Workday Leaders

Workday Leaders help Veggielution plan larger and more productive workdays with large groups of volunteers. We encourage leadership in all volunteers, but Farm Workday Leaders are asked to commit to an ongoing role and become a more experienced member of the farming team. You will help facilitate the involvement of other volunteers from diverse backgrounds and ensure that workdays run smoothly. You will also participate in monthly trainings to build your leadership and agricultural skills. Bi-lingual ability (Spanish / Vietnamese / Tagalog / etc.) is strongly desired, as we are part of a large immigrant community that are reaching out to for more farm involvement.

Workday Leader Class

Are you interested in learning more about farming? Have you been coming out to Veggielution for awhile and want to step up your involvement? Starting January 22, we will be holding a six week class to train new and continuing Workday Leaders. The course will give you the skills needed to run all kinds of farm tasks, and be conscious facilitators of our diverse community. Topics include volunteer management, soil fertility, integrated pest management, tillage, weed management, greenhouse operations, composting, worm composting, diversity training and much more.

The Workday Leaders are the core group of volunteer who run workdays, take our produce to the farmer’s market, manage our farmstand, and work on all sorts of other projects. Workday Leaders have been a part of Veggielution from the very beginning and are a key aspect of how we seek to empower the community. The commitments of a workday leader are simple: facilitate a workday at least twice a month, attend monthly meetings and be awesome.

Starting this year, we seek to get the Workday Leaders more organized than ever and provide them with top-notch training that will help them do their job even better. We also hope to expand the group, and bring up a whole new crop of people who are ready to facilitate our community. Each class will run from 1:30-3:30 after each Saturday workday from January 22th to February 26. If you think that becoming a Workday Leader is right for you, contact mark@veggielution.org to register and for more details.
