These workshops help support Veggielution’s efforts to create a sustainable food system in San Jose, such as providing organic produce to our low-income neighbors and our many educational programs—including Dig Crew, school gardens and Family Day.

 


FEBRUARY

WORKSHOP-Saturday 4th- 10:30a-12:00p- CHEESE MAKING - NO VACANCY

Get ready for a journey into the fantastic world of soft cheese. We will cover the history of how cheese came to be, and discuss the animals that are responsible for this great gift to mankind. Step by step, we will go through the process of making our very own mozzarella cheese.

EVENT-Saturday 4th: 1230-2:30pm- VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION LUNCH

You’re all invited to our Winter Volunteer Appreciation Lunch! It will be held at the community Meeting Hall, near the main entrance to Emma Prusch park. We want to acknowledge all of the hard work you veggielutionaries do for the farm, even if you are a new or one time volunteer.

 

No registration necessary, just show up!

 


 

WORKSHOP-Saturday 11th-10:30a-12:30p-INTRO TO PERMACULTURE DESIGN

Jump into the world of permaculture design. William Mutch will guide us through the permaculture basics of ethics and principles, zone and sector analysis, and how this all applies to you and your home garden.

WORKSHOP-Saturday 25th-10:30a-12:30p-FERMENTED CONDIMENTS

 

Learn how to make your own amazing probiotic-rich condiments and get helpful information, tips and tricks about fermentation. Take this opportunity to delve deeper into the culture and flavors of fermented foods. We will be making 3 different fermented condiments: Ketchup, Mayonnaise, and a seasonal veggie.

FUNDRAISER-Friday 13th- Avant Garden: Art and Food Fundraiser

Veggielution’s annual art auction and food fundraiser.

We are building an interactive and engaging evening around tasty food, live music, and a silent art auction. The program will include farm fresh appetizers/small plates, beverages, local musicians, and video. Proceeds from this event will help Veggielution provide awesome resources to our community.

TOUR-Saturday 28th- 9am-1pm: School Garden Tour

Common Ground & Slow Food South Bay are partnering in this first-ever public tour of
local school gardens. Participants will first tour the gardens at Veggielution Community Farm,
and then will carpool to three additional schools that Veggielution supports.
Join this inspirational tour of how our children and their teachers are using their gardens
for hands-on academic lessons and for connecting with where their food originates!

• visit a local Community Garden or Farm that supports local schools

• meet the creative parents, teachers, and staff who have turned asphalt into edible landscapes
